The following rules of the W.S.C. are to be read and considered before applying for membership. Additional information is in the Policy Section of the website. Government rules for non-profit corporations apply.
1. All members are required to:
comply with all mandatory federal and Ontario licensing requirements for the operation of pleasure craft
attend mandatory Spring Clean-up and Fall Dock Pull days. (OPT-OUT does not apply)
attend scheduled work days, contributing a minimum of 10 volunteer hours unless the opt-out charge is paid.
pay Opt-Out fees will for opting out of annual work crew commitments.
2. Dock Put In and Dock Pull Exemption. Members who are not available for these days will need to provide a reason to the Executive. If they fail to do so and do not attend they will be charged $100 for each of the days they do not attend. Requests for exemption from these days will be dealt with in a compassionate way, recognizing that members have other commitments, long term travel plans, illness and so on. The important point is that exemption must be requested, or the penalty will be applied.
3. Membership fees are to be paid to the Wildwood Sailing Club and UTRCA stickers placed on all sailboats before they go into the water. UTRCA placard passes must be displayed in cars when entering the club. Memberships are not transferable i.e. when a boat is sold. All members must sign off on registration. New members joining after Aug. 1 pay a reduced rate, but boat and car passes are still required.
4. Club members with more than one boat must purchase a U.T.R.C.A. sticker for each boat and there is an additional fee of $50 for a second temporary dock. Temporary docking, e.g. pending potential boat sale, is permitted only with prior permission of the Harbor Master.
5. Members who have invited guests who have brought their own sailboat to the marina must ensure that their guests have purchased a day pass from UTRCA for their sailboat.
6. Guests are the responsibility of the member who has invited them and must be accompanied by the member on each visit. The following shall not be introduced as guests:
Former members who have been expelled from this or any other club.
Former members who have ceased to be members by reason of arrears of membership fees.
7. Pavilion or grounds use for group gatherings need to be booked with our social director and should be club member relevant.
8. No member shall permit a non-member to use or borrow his/her sailboat, canoe, kayak, sailboard or rowboat unless the member is present. Family members are exempted.
9. Keys are not to be lent to non-members.
10. Members and guests are requested to take their garbage home for disposal. Burning of refuse in the fire pit is not permitted.
11. Dock space or sailboard slot on the rack must be claimed by July 1 or it may be given to someone else.
13. Members who do not launch or use their boats for long periods of time may have their dock reassigned to another member.
14. Members who do not launch their sailboat must:
Pay the membership fee and, if applicable, the initiation fee
Attend the mandatory Spring Clean-up and Fall Dock Pull
Fulfill the work crew requirements of 10 volunteer hours or pay the Opt-Out fee
Pay the car pass if planning to visit the sailing club
Pay the boat pass if the boat is to be eventually launched
15. Requests for refunds of UTRCA passes for non-launched boats must be submitted to the club treasurer before the end of July. The lawn is strictly a temporary parking area. Any trailer or boat left on the lawn beyond one week may be moved to the trailer/boat storage area, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Grounds Director. The club reserves the right to move inactive boats to a site that that does not hamper grounds maintenance or occupy space needed for active sailors. You must be a member to store your boat(s) at the club.
16.Cars are to be left in the parking area, not driven across the lawn to the boat area.
17. Campfires (permitted only in the patio fire pit) must be extinguished, the premises vacated and the gate locked by 11 p.m.
18. Onshore overnight camping is not permitted.
19. Chainsaws are not allowed to be used on conservation properties.
20. ATV’s and motocross bikes are not allowed on conservation properties. Street bikes are allowed.
21. Members are required to follow these rules for the BBQ:
turn gas off after use.
after use and barbecue cools, remove grates, wash, and scrub clean.
the interior (especially the bottom) can be cleaned with a scraper and debris disposed of.
all parts are to be put back in their respective places.
face plate (where control buttons are) is to be cleaned with a soft cloth.
when the propane tank is empty:
- have the tank refilled and replace it on the BBQ. - if you cannot get the tank refilled, there is another full tank in the blue work shed for you to use. Be sure to inform the council and they will have the empty tank refilled. - all tank fills will be reimbursed. Hand in the invoice to get your money back.
22. Members must close and lock the gates behind them each and every time they enter or leave the club.
23. If you are the last member to leave the club property make sure the service boat, blue shed and the main gate are locked.
24. Service Boat Rules: The service boat is available to everyone who holds a boaters licence and has been trained, to use for authorized uses only. Authorized Uses:
Retrievals of capsized boats and stranded boats
Safety boat for WSC racing days
Dock maintenance
Emergency needs
The Service Boat is NOT to be used for:
Joy riding
Non-emergency towing
Non-WSC uses
The Service Boat must remain locked when not in use. This is an insurance requirement.
25. Floating Crane: For safety reasons, only Hans Rosch and Les Leonhardt may use the crane. If you have a need to use the crane contact the Docks Director.
26. Sailboat Regulations: All sailboats using the WSC premises must conform to the following regulations.
Sailboats shall not have a length exceeding 26 feet.
Sailboats shall not have a weight exceeding 3500 pounds.
Sailboats with a fixed keel shall not have a draft from water line to the bottom of the keel exceeding 40 inches in depth.
The maximum height for the draft of your sailboat plus the trailer height should be no more than 50 inches from the water line of the boat to the ground when the boat is on the trailer.
Trailers under tow on WSC premises must be secured to tow hitches with safety chains.
All boats must have their mast lowered prior to parking in designated boat parking areas.
27. Pet Regulations:
Poop & Scoop – all members and guests must clean-up after their pets.
Poop bags shall be taken home.
All pets are to be in a pet carrier or on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
No pets shall be left in vehicles while owners are elsewhere.
Owners of noisy pets will be asked to remove them from the premises.
All pets must stay in the care of their owners at all times.
28. Wildwood Sailing Club Inc. is not responsible for injuries or damages which occur on this property.
29. The Executive Committee shall have the power to request any member to resign from membership if, in the opinion of the committee, his or her general conduct and disregard for rules has rendered them unworthy of membership.
