Members of the club enjoyed an informal social evening following the Vanexan Race on June 16th. At Bernadette's suggestion, hotdogs and hamburgers were cooked up over the open fire and Gerry provided giant maple-flavoured marshmallows for toasting, and they were a huge hit too!

Even though the Vanexan Race was postponed due to inclement weather, members of the club, family and friends still came out to socialize and enjoy a tasty burger and hotdog barbecue thanks to Bernadette and the Social Committee. And as always, there was a delicious assortment of salads and desserts contributed by the participants!
As you know the Vanexan Cup is fast approaching. The date June 9th, rain date June 10th.
1 o'clock for the race entrees with race to follow and 5 o'clock for dinner. I have stepped up and I am busy organizing the dinner/potluck. Margrit has done an outstanding job in years past and I assure you I will do my very best to also make this a wonderful experience for us all. The camaraderie and fellowship of our club when we get together, swapping stories is part of what we are all about! Personally I love sailing Wildwood lake, it is perfect for honing sailing skills! Cat paws(thanks George for that term), jibing, tacking as often as you like and navigating around fishing boats, canoes and motor boats! Room for us all! And when a brisk wind, flying across the lake with the wind in the sails the sound of sail and water in your ears! I must be a sailor! lol! Getting back to dinner/potluck/barbecue bring friends, kids, your dog to either run in the race or watch and stay for the dinner afterwards. It includes a hamburger or hot dog expertly barbecued by the one and only James Hardwick (years of practice), a green salad and a drink(water, tea, coffee, juice or hot chocolate), cost $5.00. Bringing your own cutlery, plate and serviette is encouraged. Bringing a salad or desert to share is also greatly appreciated! If bringing your beloved four footed family member please keep him/her leashed at all time and poop and scoop to bring home to dispose of! What I need from you - RSVP if you are attending the dinner and the number of participants. Here's to having another great event day at Wildwood Sailing Club! Social Club Planner Bernadette Kowalchuk RSVP bernakowalckuk@hotmail.com Even after postponing the date of the dock launch for a week, it was a still a very cold and windy day but at least there was no snow left on the ground. In spite of the weather, club members came out for a ten o'clock start in their winter gear to get the work done! The grounds crew got busy with their rakes while the launch dock got put into place. Piece by piece the docks started to take shape, the grounds were cleared and the pavilion was transformed back to a gathering place for the coming sailing season. Thanks to the members for providing a very tasty lunch! Bernadette rustled up a ton of egg salad sandwiches! Hot coffee and tea were also enjoyed with the delicious desserts.
Thanks to everyone who came out to get the club ready for the 2018 sailing season! Warm weather is just around the corner. Now that the docks are ready, who will be the first in?
