Welcome to the The Wildwood Sailing Club Racing Program
Shown above is Chris Vaughan and Race Director, Les Leonhardt participating in the "Rum Runner Race" when the club dressed like pirates and raced for pirate booty.
This is the tenth year of the revived racing program at the Wildwood Sailing Club. I would like to thank all of the people who participated last year and encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the fun our program has to offer. We have four scheduled events for this year; 3 races and a fun rally at the end of the year.
It begins with the first summer supper and race on Saturday June 11th or the 12th if it rains. The Vanexan Cup is up for grabs again!
The next Summer Supper and race is on Saturday July 16th or if it rains the race moves to the 17th. Come one, come all. The pirates are after the rum booty in the Rum Runner!
The third race has no meal and is held on Saturday August 6th or if it rains it moves to August 7th. The Wildwood Cup is the cup we all want to win!
The Fun Rally is planned for Sunday August 21st (Annual Meeting Day) where luck has everything to do with it.
All boats are given a handicap from the Portsmouth System and then adjusted accordingly by their captains and the boats' performances. This handicap system is the standard that is used for club racing throughout the world. This will give all boats a fair competitive chance.
Also we need people to run the timing and follow the race in the Service boat. Timing would include starting the race and keeping track of who finishes where and when. Please sign up on the membership application.
We encourage all members to participate and come out and enjoy the fun racing for the 2016 season.
